Endings and Beginnings

Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve updated this. I’m sorry if anyone got tired of looking at the beluga. Much has happened since that trip, including finishing up the term and arriving back in the States last night, which was an eventful, but ultimately successful trip.

The next weekend after seeing the beluga was a trip to Vancouver Island, where we stayed with the Miner’s, who are from my church in Chapel Hill. The ambiguous “we” in this case, and in many previous cases, is something some of you may have heard about. God has blessed me in many ways this summer, and one of the greatest ways was to bring a young lady named Sarah into my life. We started dating a few weeks into the program and plan to continue on and see what God has for us.

But the trip to Vancouver Island was a great time of rest and relaxation in the middle of the stresses of school. We were very blessed by the hospitality of Jack and Jane, and all of the good times we had there. The following weekend we were able to go to a Stephen Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith concert in nearby Abbotsford B.C., and the next weekend Sarah’s parents came to visit. That brings us all the way up to this weekend, where I returned home.

That being said there was more than a little bit going on in-between all those weekends. The schoolwork intensified as the summer came to a close. But I am happy to report that I managed to finish both my sociolinguistic paper and my survey proposal, and have netted A’s in all classes thus far. The survey proposal was particularly interesting to me, probably because it concerned a real survey need for a real people group. It also had a little mystery involved in researching one of the groups, which investigating was a lot of fun.

So now I’m back and I suppose the question is, what’s next? Well. I can’t say with certainty. But I can say that I have officially received a Wycliffe application and am going to begin working on it. Past that, I’ll let you know when it happens.

It’s been a wonderful summer! Thanks for all of your prayers and support!
